SDS and Label Authoring Registry – Standard Setting Meeting
AIHA Registry Programs hosted a wide-ranging group of subject matter experts July 26, 2017 to perform the standard setting for the updated SDS and Label Authoring Registry competency assessment. Standard setting is the process by which the passing score is set for the assessment and is a vital part of a valid and reliable credential. Thank you to our volunteers for their exceptional work!
AAT Asbestos Survey
AIHA Registry Programs is requesting the assistance of AAT participants. If you are a current AAT participant, please help us, and the program, by taking a short, anonymous survey. The survey covers sample preparation, microscope filter, test slide type and usage, and sample characteristics. Take the survey!
Guidelines for Use of the SDSRP Designation for Registered Professionals
The SDS and Label Authoring Registry has adopted a designation for the program in order to make showing the achievement of being registered more convenient. The SDS Registered Professional (SDSRP), will now be used to recognize registered individuals. If you are registered in the SDS and Label Authoring program, please familiarize yourself with the guidelines for use of the SDSRP designation and then discontinue use of the previously provided insignia. Update on the SDS and Label Authoring Examination
September 27 2017, AIHA Registry Programs will be launching a new SDS and Label Authoring Registry examination. This new exam will be based on the updated SDS and Label Authoring Body of Knowledge, which can be found on the AIHA website: SDS & Label Authoring Body of Knowledge. Learn more here...

Registered Specialist Credential Renewal Scheme
The SDS and Label Authoring Registry is approaching a milestone! The first Registered Professionals are about the hit the end of their initial registration cycle in 2017. Registered Professionals may now submit information documenting professional development, presentations given, volunteer service, employment, etc., to maintain the credential, or they may renew via examination. Are your credentials expiring in 2017? If so, you may wish to review the Renewal Scheme before you start the online renewal form (log in required).

Inclusion in the listing recognizes that you possess the relevant experience, and have demonstrated and tested competence in a specialized area of practice covered by the Registry. Your experience may be focused in a particular area of practice and you are looking to be recognized for achieving a high level of competency in that area. FEATURED PROGRAM
The SDS and Label Authoring Registry program recognizes chemical hazard communication and environmental health professionals who specialize in authoring safety data sheets (SDS) and labels. This registry program was developed through a partnership with the Society for Chemical Hazard Communication (SCHC) to assure the recognition of competent professionals. To gain the Registered Specialist: SDS and Label Author credential, individuals must meet the established qualifications and must demonstrate competency in the skills and knowledge defined by the program’s Body of Knowledge. Hopefully by now, most of you reading the blog are aware that the SDS and Label Authoring test, or competency assessment, is being updated. This revision is based on the updated Body of Knowledge, completed mid-2016, and with questions, or items, that were developed and thoroughly reviewed near the end of 2016.
